Hike Report

This is a lovely cliff walk down to the beach. There are some lovely flowers and in the right season, gorse bushes. The beach itself is very expansive, and has some lovely rock formations and a waterfall.

Difficulty

This is a bit different than a mountain hike, because you start out going down first, and then climb back up when you are done, so the difficult part doesn't come until the end. Nevertheless, it is not a long walk. There are several long "switchbacks" that wind down the cliff, and going down probably takes about 15 minutes. Going back up is closer to 20 or 30. This is a good family hike, though you will want to be careful of small children as the paths can be narrow and the cliff is steep - there are not many guardrails - small children will definitely need supervision. Overall it is not that difficult.

Statistics

I believe the elevation gain is about 65 metres. Not counting time at the bottom, the walk itself took about 40 minutes or less, but we did not have children with us.

About the author
I am Laura. I love experiencing the beauty of nature - flowers, the coast, waterfalls, great views. My husband is more of a hiker than I am, but I have greatly enjoyed accompanying him on many hikes over the past few years. I tend to prefer smaller mountains - I haven't done any 4,000-footers, and now that I have a baby it will be a while before I get the chance to do anything close to that (more...)
